I was wondering if people could share their experience on the popular techniques, tools, or services for blocking porn access on Windows.

I know of simple HOSTS file black hole’ing of urls but, thats not ideal. I also know that nothing is going to be fullproof.

Is there leading tools, techniques or services people are using in this forum? What’s the state of this market?

I wish all porn was able to be forced to move to an .xxx TLD and then we could more easily block most of it.

    thanks

There is another way that you can stop porn addiction, chronic masturbation and recover your sexual health without fighting it with willpower. With the right mindset you won't even relapse. You can learn more about the recovery program here

    Waxfire,

Netmop is pretty good. It doesn’t filter out stuff it shouldn’t, such as this forum.

Tueagles Anti-porn is also very good. It has screen captures, which I use to get my wife to monitor what I have been looking at.

XXXChruch has software you can use to email an accountability partner what web site you have been looking at.

Some people on this forum have been able to break the habit without help, with is great. For others, the addiction is TOO strong.

That might work on some men, but I think the key is to simple make a conscious decision to stop visiting those sites. You can see lots of erotic images in all kinds of forums these days and other places, so its very hard to avoid them.

In the past, when I have slipped to masturbation I have always allowed myself consciously to do so. How would any filter or program then help me if I´ve already allowed myself to watch porn or masturbate that day, and normal computer user can quickly bypass those programs and methods.

Meditation and deep breathing does help me physically and mentally.

If you are religious, I have read that many people use prayers to help them fighting against addiction. I´m not personally that religious myself so I can not tell if they are effective.

how long have you gone without porn, and can you give any pointers towards practicing meditation and deep breathing.

I have gone few months at maximum, and quite long time with 2-3 weeks cycles. It is now two weeks since last ejaculation and I do everything I can to go as long as I safely can. I slipped little month ago when the spring libido turned my testicles to higher gear, but now it is over.

I practice visual meditation and deep abdominal breathing ( instructions on exercise section ). They help me to:

    1. calm down and soothe the mental stagnations, which involuntarily accumulate during days, when under the influence of stress, hard thinking etc.

    2. whole body breathing does move energy and substances in your body, so they help transforms these sexual energies back to the body. Deer exercise is one way to do that, but it requires strong orgasmic power, so that you can have miniorgams with your tailbone muscles ( this is the orgasm without ejaculation ). Those who have weak orgasms will not succeed in deer exercise because they do not have the fuel to drive that energy upwards the spine.

    3. stay focused and interested in energy cultivation. When I am focused enough, it is easier to break the habit since you continuously observe what s going on. By observing, I do not mean over-thinking rather I mean trying to somewhat stay interested in whats happening in your body. When you know whats will happen afterwards you have masturbated, you may not want to masturbate that time any longer.

How on earth did you go a few months without seeing ANY porn? Where you living in the woods with no technology or comminication with society? Or does that mean a few months of where you didnt purposely search for porn?

It is impossible to use net without seeing any erotic images of women, but unless I decide to do so, how could I watch i.e. porn movies by accident. Just simply close the pages that have porn in them and do not look them further. If you look naked women or porn too long at a one time, you find yourself soon masturbating.

I never watch porn with friends either, I guess I´m too old for that stuff. I remember watching porn with friend long before I had an internet access but only like few times per year. It was when I was teenager and seeing naked women or porn was like a dream come true back then. Wish to have that kind of stimulative effect again but it requires higher levels of sexual energy than we have…

It was when I was teenager and seeing naked women or porn was like a dream come true back then. Wish to have that kind of stimulative effect again but it requires higher levels of sexual energy than we have…I see you always talk of internet porn. Is that the main problem? I mean last week a me and a group of my friends were hanging out playin games and one of them popped in a porn. And they were watching, I looked at it alittle bit, but didnt really watch it. Stuff like that happens where I’ll be around porn or other sexual images. I mean I usually dont get arroused by looking at this images, and I can control myself from masturbating when I see these images. So where is the problem? I’m not really concerned that porn will make me wanna masturbate(because I’m not masturbating regardless and I know porn will make me do it, so i avoid it on purpose). I’m also not concerne with burning energy from getting arroused from watching porn/erotic images because I usually dont get arroused when I see them, unless I’m actually watching it to masturbate, which I’m not anymore. My concern is the ability to get arroused by real girls again rather than to porn images. Thats why I avoid porn, and whenever I see something that has the potential to arrouse me I get mad because I feel I’ll never get my libido focused on real girls again…

It seems, you really have to stop using the porn or you will find yourself never being attracted or getting excited by real life girls.

I first think your situation was mild since you masturbate heavily back then ( I thought, that if u would have terrible symptoms you might not want to masturbate that much ) but now I think you not being attracted to real life girls is a real problem. porn usage and watching too much erotic images have probable trained your brains to being only excited to them. And also, being attracted to real life girls require more energy, thats why many people still can masturbate to porn ( but not real life girls ) because the porn works the same way as drugs. It will suck whatever you have left in your body. Combine porn and over-masturbation, to excessive physical exercise or stressing, and bad dietary habits and men will have the bodies and brains of drug users.

Ps. I do not have any sky tv channels, so I will not see porn from anywhere than net.

I dont look at porn anymore…and when you say use porn do you mean like use it to masturbate? I dont look at porn, and I dont masturbate. I’m more concerned about seeing erotic images. I hear different things so it confused me. For example, on one site I heard that whatever you associate orgasm to is what you’ll be arroused by and attracted to. So my interpretation is if you masturbate to porn, you get aroused to that, if you have sex with girls, you get arroused by girls, etc…

Ok, thats easy to understand. But my question is then if you see something that arrouses you(porn, sexy female picture, whatever), even tho you dont masturbate to it, will it still alter what arrouses you? Like is it only bad if you purposely look for it/look at it? Or is just seeing it, even tho you werent purposely looking for it bad too?

So I guess that things like music videos wih sexy girls, or sexy girls in movies, or sexy pictures in a magazine dont count right? Aslong as it isnt actual pornagraphy, I’m good.

Thanks for the responses everyone and the links .

I have made progress where i’m not doing it but, every 10-16 days or so unless i’m weak. That is considerably better than pretty much daily before but, i despise this addiction. I wish i could make it longer but, at right about 2 weeks i start getting an urge like i’m “full” and i’m on the edge.

The last few times i’ve become weak its been from venturing into the foobies section of Fark. I love to look at beautiful women its not just the “porn”. However, I’m weak.

I hate that a lot of fairly normal video sites that mostly have cool and funny videos throw in some random amateur wanna be internet porn star hot chick shaking her ass around and I lose control at the sight of it

My technique right now is just to use the computer less. Thats something I could use anyway as i do it for a living.

I’m also using the HOSTS file method for sites i used to frequent which i know is easy to bypasses if i want to but, at least it prevents me from accidentally browsing on impulse.

I’ll look at all those links too. Thanks

waxfire So for you, once you see something that arrouses you, you cant control your self and you end up masturbating? See for me, I can control myself…but I feel like if I keep looking at this internet vids, I’ll never get arroused by reallife girls…

i don’t immediately lose control. its more like i spiral out of control.

1 video of some really hot chick on a mostly normal site is like bait for more and often in the past i find myself wanting to check out “just one more” since that one was great!

for me its just a matter of discipline which isn’t my strength

waxfire I understand what you’re talking about, and its hard. I would try to limit computer time like you said it’s the only way man. Just try to find some hobbies to do that occupy your time.

I can recommend ScrubIt as a good, free and easy tool for preventing access to Internet-porn.. No programs to install. No registrations.. You just change your computer (or broadband-router)’s DNS-setting pointing them to the ip-addresses provided by ScrubIt. It is fast and very effective.

OK, it is relatively easy to change it back, but when I see the ScrubIT-block page it is a reminder of my goal not to watch Internet-porn and I have succeeded so far.. You can use this filter on any operatingsystem. Vista, XP, Mac, Linux…. Give it a try and program your mind to see it as a serious failure if you remove the filter by changing the DNS-settings back again..
